Fred & Pat Haggard

Fred came to Red Bird in March 1994. He serves as the Executive Director of the Red Bird Mission and Clinic. Pat volunteers as Box Tops for Education Coordinator and assists in the administration office. The Haggards have two sons, Neal and Paul. Neal is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and he and his wife, Alisa, have a daughter, Sydney, born in January 2006.  Neal  is working as a software developer in North Carolina. Paul is living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He works as an audio-visual technician and is engaged to Amanda Banks.

Born in Scott's Hill, Tennessee, Fred's family moved to Memphis, Tennessee before his teenage years. It was there that he met Pat Adkins in the 11th grade and continued to date her throughout college. Fred graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, married Pat and entered United States Air Force Pilot Training all within a two-week period in 1969.  Fred received a M.S. in Systems Management in 1973 from the University of Southern California.  Pat graduated from the University of Memphis with a B.A. in Secondary Education. She served in the Red Bird Mission School as elementary Christian education teacher for three years and high school mathematics teacher for ten years.

Their oldest son, Neal, was born in 1973 in Tacoma, Washington, and their younger son, Paul, was born in 1983 in the Washington DC area. The strong devotion of Pat’s and Fred’s parents to service in the church set the course for their spiritual life. Both joined the Methodist Church at the age of 12 and were active members of United Methodist churches across the U.S. throughout their Air Force travels. Their experiences in these churches brought them in contact with many wonderful Christians who strengthened them in their walk with Christ.
