Robert Ferguson began service at Red Bird Mission in July 1994 as Director of Education after having completed thirty years in education in Indiana. He taught vocational agriculture for seven years, served as an assistant principal for four years, and as principal for fourteen years. He went back to school at Ball State University in June 1993 to be a graduate assistant in Educational Leadership and worked toward a Doctorate after serving five years as a public school superintendent. Bob has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Education from Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana. He also has earned a Master of Science Degree in School Administration and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Purdue University. Bob has served the United Methodist Church in several local church positions. He has been a Lay Leader, Education Committee Chairperson, Chairman of Pastor-Parish Committees, Chairman of a church addition Building Committee, and served on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committees. He and his wife Paula are both presently Certified Lay Speakers in the Muncie District of the North Indiana Conference and sing in the choir at the Daleville United Methodist Church whenever they are present. Bob also teaches a Sunday School Class. Paula took paralegal training after retiring from the Indiana Division of Family and Children and is presently a Paralegal at an Indianapolis law firm. Paula has also been active in local church activities throughout the years. The Fergusons enjoy visiting their children (5) and grandchildren (11) when they have time. Bob also enjoys playing the guitar and singing. He and Paula have been known to do special numbers for church services when asked.
