I have called Red Bird Mission School my home for almost thirteen years. It has been an honor to tell people that I am a Red Bird Cardinal. In that one building stands a lifetime of memories for me along with others. One memory I recall is acting out a scene from the Bible. The story was Cain and Abel and my twin brother and I had the lead roles. It was in Ms. King’s kindergarten class. How many people can say that they were learning about the Bible in kindergarten? I know that I am proud that I can! Red Bird School is not just a place for educational advancement, but spiritual advancement. For the past six years, I have attended chapel and devotional sessions. It has been a true blessing from God to be able to start out the academic day with a praise song, words of encouragement from the speakers, and a prayer. In this life, you will meet very few people who you can put your total trust in. At Red Bird, there are too many of these people to mention. I can never fully express the love I have felt by the staff and my friends at Red Bird. I never thought that a learning community could be so close. It is a rare thing in today’s society to walk into a building and feel completely safe. I can honestly say that I feel just as safe at Red Bird as I do in my own home. For many students, the morning at school starts with being hassled by metal detectors and security guards. For me, the morning at school starts with smiles and friendly greetings as I rush not be tardy. God has such a funny way of placing you in the place where you belong. In the Red Bird community, I know that God has put me there for a reason. God has worked so many miracles through Red Bird. I cannot begin to even begin to express what Red Bird means to me. I love Red Bird Mission School with all my heart. No matter what road I take in life, I will always know that in Beverly, Kentucky, stands the place that has helped define me as a person.
